IN SEARCH OF MAGIC
Linn Halvorsrød

In search of magic. Three projects will become one sculpture. Altarpiece / notation / in search of magic. Sound collages with field recordings from Japan, Brazil and various seas and the carnival in Copenhagen and a raw mix for a cassette I am working on plus the manifesto Solveig, lucky born up north. I'm coming to Kurant with 94 collages, 5 sounds and a big carpet of chaos. Plus a golden cardboard box. The very symbol of the whole project. I found a bag with what seemed to be a woman's last possessions. Had she left it on purpose or was it stolen. On the way from A to B. In a cardboard box of gold. Solveig, lucky born up north. The overall impression comes after. The ground is the craft. Linn Halvorsrød f.1980 is an executive audio and visual artist with education from KHIO, KIT and Nordic Sound Art. Nordic Sound Art is a traveling Scandinavian master school with a focus on the production and analysis of sound art.

Linn Halvorsrød (b. 1980) studied at KHIO (BA Textile) and KIT (Master at the Art Academy). She has exhibited at Trøndelag Centre for Contemporary Art, Sandnes Kunstforening and Sound Of Mu, in addition to a number of perfomances in festivals like Øya and Storåsfestivalen as well as various artist run venues in Scandinavia.

DEN GAMLE COWBOYS HVISKEN / WHISPERINGS OF AN OLD COWBOY
Marthe Walthinsen

VI ER I COWBOYLAND
VI ER I PØLSELAND
VI ER PÅ PRÆRIEN
DET BLÅSER KALDT

VI RIDER HESTEN VÅR
VI STRAMMER KJEVEN STYGT
VI RIR MOT SOLEN, SNART
SÅ BLIR DET MØRKT

DET ER SÅ MØRKT OMKRING
JEG HUSKER INGENTING
JEG FINNER MUNNSPILLET
OG TENNER BÅL

JEG DRAR FREM PØLSENE
JEG DRAR FREM MARSHMELLOWS
JEG DRAR FREM SPIDD.
OG SVIR DET SVART

SNART BLIR DET LYST IGJEN
SNART BLIR DET VARMT IGJEN
JEG RIDER SNART IGJEN
JEG ER EN DUD

The exhibition Den gamle cowboys hvisken / Whisperings of an Old Cowboy is centered around bad tactics / disregard of ones own inadequacy and the road towards a so-called happy ending. Alongside the cowboy who tries to ride off into the sunset, but constantly gets disturbed by the cameraman, we find the sculpture Der goldene Schlüssel; a representation of a mountain, but also the title of a German fairy tale. An element from the video work The Dead End (2009) is mounted on the wall, modeled in ceramics and accompanied by a photograph which shows an Indian tattoo on a child's body.

Marthe Walthinsen (b. 1981) is spreading her art practice over several fields. Besides own exhibition projects, she is part of the art theoretical band project Textfukkers. She also curates for the Project Room at Gallery Trafo, - an exhibition space for the young contemporary art scene. Walthinsen graduated from the Art Academy in Oslo in 2007, and has since exhibited at, among other Galleri Blunk (Trondheim), Gallery Mymääla 2 (Helsinki), Gallery Oro (Gothenburg) 21:24 (Oslo), Podium (Oslo), and held a number of projects with Textfukkers, including Ultima festival, Oslo Art Association, Sørlandet Art Museum, Künstlerhaus Glogauer (Berlin) and Kulturbahnhof (Kassel).
